Clarence Greene became the first African-American certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery on October 22 1953. From the Howard University College of Medicine with distinction in 1936. Born September 18 1951 is an American retired neurosurgeon author and politician who served as the 17th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 2017 to 2021.
Before There Was Dr. Alexa Canady became the first Black female neurosurgeon in the United. The first female African-American neurosurgeon in the United States Alexa Canady was also the first female African-American to be certified by the American Board of Neurological.
The first female and first African-American neurosurgeon in the US was Alexa Irene Canady back in 1984. Latunde Odeku MD FACS enabled him to become the first African-American neurosurgeon trained in the United States.
